We are seeking Urdu Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Urdu is a priority South Asian language frequently requested in immigration and asylum cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Urdu ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Interpret with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards.
  • Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Urdu and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Excellent telephone communication and ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
