Who We Are
Founded in 1994, independently owned, and woman lead, FASTSIGNS Oakland officially opened its doors in 1995 and has grown to be one of the largest volume FASTSIGNS centers in the nation.

A production and wayfinding sign designer specializing in site surveys, mockups, and project needs documentation is responsible for designing effective signage systems that guide users through physical spaces, directly supporting sales and project workflow by collaborating in real time on survey visits and producing actionable design documents.

Core Responsibilities

Join our account managers on site surveys to collect measurements, take photos, assess mounting conditions, and document environmental factors needed for accurate signage design and installation.

Begin mockup designs during or immediately after the site visit, producing realistic visualizations and prototypes to support ongoing sales conversations and client decision-making.

Analyze architectural plans and conduct site assessments, ensuring designs account for visibility, traffic flow, regulatory compliance, and ADA requirements.

Summarize findings and design requirements from surveys, creating detailed documentation for both internal teams and clients, covering sign types, materials, specs, and placement recommendations.

Collaborate with sales, estimating, production, and installation teams to resolve technical challenges and fulfill project objectives from concept through fabrication.

Maintain proficiency in design and graphics software (Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, prototyping tools) to produce both concept visuals and production-ready drawings.

Key Qualifications

Experience in graphic/environmental design for signage, with a solid portfolio of site-specific wayfinding projects.

Strong spatial awareness and user-centered design approach, with ability to translate survey data into effective navigation and branding solutions.

Solid working knowledge of signage fabrication processes, materials, and local zoning or ADA codes.

Effective written and verbal communication skills for presenting design concepts and summarizing site survey findings.

Proficiency with relevant software: Illustrator, Photoshop, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling tools.
Compensation: $25.46 - $30.66 per hour
