The Role:
As a Part-Time Contract Instructor specializing in women's empowerment self-defense, you will design and lead transformative classes exclusively for women (all experience levels, with a warm welcome for beginners). The curriculum emphasizes holistic, evidence-based training: situational awareness, risk recognition and reduction, powerful verbal boundary-setting, de-escalation techniques, intuitive decision-making, and effective physical responses to common assault scenarios.
As a Part-Time Contract Instructor specializing in women's empowerment self-defense, you will design and lead transformative classes exclusively for women (all experience levels, with a warm welcome for beginners). The curriculum emphasizes holistic, evidence-based training: situational awareness, risk recognition and reduction, powerful verbal boundary-setting, de-escalation techniques, intuitive decision-making, and effective physical responses to common assault scenarios.
Classes use padded assailant scenarios, role-playing, and simulator-based training to create realistic yet safe practice environments that build genuine confidence and muscle memory. As our women's programs grow, you will have the opportunity to lead multiple sessions per week, host workshops, and develop ongoing series.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and deliver safe, trauma-informed classes for groups of 8–10 women, focusing on practical techniques proven to prevent and stop violence.
- Teach awareness, prevention, verbal assertiveness, and high-impact physical defenses that leverage adrenaline and real-world dynamics.
- Foster a supportive, empowering, and non-intimidating environment that celebrates progress and builds lasting confidence, especially for beginners and survivors.
- Incorporate progressive scenario training using our simulators to reinforce survival mindset and skills.
- Collect feedback and attendance data to continuously improve the program; collaborate on special events such as empowerment seminars and community safety workshops.
- Stay current with research-backed best practices in women's self-defense and empowerment training.
Ideal Candidate:
- Required: 1.5+ years of experience teaching women's empowerment self-defense programs, with proven success in helping women build safety, confidence, and survival skills.
- Strongly Preferred: Formal certification in leading evidence-based women's self-defense systems (e.g., R.A.D. Systems, IMPACT/Preparation, Model Mugging, ESD Global, Empowerment Self-Defense, or equivalent). Extensive experience leading women-only classes is essential.
- Location: Based in Phoenix metro area.
- Deep passion for women's safety and empowerment; background in trauma-informed instruction, counseling, or survivor advocacy is highly valued.
- Exceptional communication, empathy, and motivational abilities; skilled at creating transformative, judgment-free learning experiences.
- Must pass background check
- Must carry or obtain personal general liability insurance (minimum $1M per occurrence) with United Defense Tactical named as Additional Insured; proof required prior to starting.
