Operations Manager – Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Manager with strong experience in warehouse, production, and logistics leadership—preferably within the trade show and events industry. This role oversees all operational departments, systems, and workflows that support the planning, production, installation, and successful execution of custom exhibit projects.

You will be responsible for optimizing processes, managing teams, improving efficiency, and ensuring flawless coordination across warehouse, fabrication, inventory, logistics, labor management, and show-site operations. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and leadership capabilities, a deep understanding of operational systems, and proven experience managing people, resources, and budgets in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Strategy

  • Oversee all operational functions of our warehouse operations, production workflow, labor planning, inventory management, and logistics.

  • Develop strategic and operational goals to support company growth, improve output quality, and increase profitability.

  • Implement efficient systems, SOPs, and processes across departments to standardize operations and reduce errors or production delays.

  • Partner closely with the COO, CEO, and Project Managers to ensure alignment between production, warehouse, and project timelines.

  • Track KPIs to measure operational performance, capacity, throughput, labor utilization, and accuracy across builds and shipments.

Warehouse & Production Oversight

  • Lead the full warehouse operation, including daily workflow, team scheduling, task assignments, resource allocation, and safety compliance.

  • Oversee concurrent booth builds, packing, staging, refurbishment, and quality checks to ensure all projects meet company standards.

  • Ensure job folders are reviewed, prepped, and executed accurately and on schedule.

  • Provide technical guidance for booth assembly, including Aluvision and B-Matrix framing, lighting, AV integration, and cable management.

  • Support troubleshooting during complex builds and escalated production issues.

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Maintain accurate and efficient inventory systems, including forecasting, replenishment, and procurement of materials.

  • Monitor low-stock items, custom parts, and rental frame counts to prevent overselling or production delays.

  • Oversee inspections, repairs, refurbishments, and quality checks of exhibit components.

Quality Control & Damage Prevention

  • Establish and enforce best practices for packing, handling, transportation, storage, and show-site teardown.

  • Conduct final quality checks for all outgoing shipments and exhibit components.

  • Identify recurring damage patterns and implement corrective actions to eliminate root causes.

Labor & Team Management

  • Manage warehouse leads, warehouse employees, and production staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews.

  • Develop labor budgets, distribute workload, and coordinate temp labor when necessary.

  • Promote a professional, accountable, and respectful work culture, ensuring all team members adhere to company standards and values.

Show-Site Support & Logistics

  • Oversee operational execution on the show floor when needed, ensuring booths are installed and dismantled safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.

  • Coordinate freight, transportation, and logistics to ensure on-time delivery and return of booths.

  • Reinforce best practices during tear-down to minimize loss and damage.

Compliance & Operational Standards

  • Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, DOT, and convention center regulations.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment through routine safety checks and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of operations, warehouse, or production management experience; trade show industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of operations management, process development, logistics, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Experience analyzing financial data, budgeting, forecasting, and managing labor/resource allocations.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with a track record of building high-performing teams.

  • Proficiency with operational software, inventory systems, Excel, and job-tracking platforms.

  • Ability to multitask, manage competing deadlines, and operate in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Forklift experience and familiarity with trade show logistics are strong advantages.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and engage in warehouse activities as needed.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hand tools in a warehouse environment.

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
