Schedule: Mon–Fri | 8 AM–5 PM | 40 hrs/week
Contract Type: Local Only / Hybrid (90% Remote, 10% Onsite)


About the Role

SOAZ-Req #8807 – AZDEQ is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (NON-IT) to lead and manage complex environmental and administrative projects. This role requires excellent communication, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder groups while ensuring timely, high-quality project delivery.

Onsite work is limited and typically includes stakeholder meetings and public engagement.

A PMP or CAPM certification is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Initiation: Define scope, requirements, deliverables; build project plans, schedules, and budgets.

  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Track project costs, maintain fiscal accountability, and manage billing/invoicing.

  • Stakeholder Management: Coordinate with elected officials, government agencies, community groups, industry groups, vendors, and the public.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental standards and procurement rules.

  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify risks, create mitigation plans, and maintain an issues log.

  • Execution & Delivery: Lead multidisciplinary teams; ensure quality and timely project completion.

  • Vendor & Procurement Support: Assist with RFPs, SOWs, contract administration, and vendor performance monitoring.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed project documentation and prepare both technical and non-technical reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Public Administration, Business, Engineering, IT, or related field. (Master’s preferred)

  • Experience:

    • 3–5 years of project management experience

    • At least 2 years in public or nonprofit sector preferred

    • Prior experience with agency-level projects is highly desirable

  • Certification: PMP or CAPM required (include region/county of registration)
