One Love is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and experienced Licensed Therapist/Counselor with a strong background in serving individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This role will support clients across the IDD spectrum, including those involved in adaptive community programs, recreational activities, and skill-building programs. We’re looking for someone who is confident, patient, creative, and adaptable in their therapeutic approach.
Position: Licensed IDD Therapist/Counselor (Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities)
Location: Boise Idaho
Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and group therapy for clients with IDD, including those participating in community-based adaptive or recreational programs.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and adaptive needs.
• Utilize evidence-based and person-centered therapeutic interventions appropriate for clients with varying levels of intellectual and developmental functioning.
• Support clients in areas such as emotional regulation, social skills, communication, behavior management, daily living skills, and self-advocacy.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, support coordinators, and community partners involved in clients’ activities or support networks.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and treatment coordination as needed.
• Stay current on best practices and interventions relating to IDD, adaptive mental health, and inclusive community-based care.
Qualifications:
• Must hold a current Idaho license as a Therapist/Counselor (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC, LMFT).
• Experience working with individuals diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or related cognitive/behavioral conditions.
• Strong understanding of adaptive therapy approaches, communication strategies, and supportive frameworks for diverse functioning levels.
• Ability to create a supportive and empowering environment for clients and families.
• Strong documentation, communication, and clinical assessment skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting individuals who participate in adaptive recreational, community engagement, or skill-building programs.
• Training or certification in developmental disability intervention, trauma-informed practices, or ABA-informed approaches (non-ABA role, but familiarity is beneficial).
• Experience with EHR systems and electronic documentation.
• Knowledge of Medicaid and insurance billing processes.
