About the Opportunity
SOS Logistics is seeking a reliable and experienced Food Delivery & Logistics Courier to support a federal contract with the Bureau of Indian Education serving Havasupai Elementary School in Supai, Arizona.

Havasupai Elementary School is located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and is accessible only by foot, mule, horseback, or helicopter. This role supports the school’s meal program and delivery of educational materials for approximately 70 students.

The courier will coordinate weekly food deliveries and courier services while ensuring strict temperature control, delivery documentation, and chain-of-custody accountability throughout the delivery process.

Food is pre-ordered and delivered by Sysco, and the courier is responsible for receiving, verifying, temperature-controlling, and transporting the food — not purchasing it.

Deliveries occur primarily on Thursdays, with occasional emergency deliveries if requested.


Primary Responsibilities
• Meet the Sysco delivery truck at the Red Barn near Hualapai Hilltop to receive weekly food deliveries
• Verify delivery contents against packing lists
• Immediately place food in USDA/FDA-compliant insulated coolers or freezer containers
• Maintain strict temperature control for all perishable items
• Record temperature logs at pickup, prior to helicopter sling loading, and upon delivery confirmation
• Transport food and packages to the Hilltop Helipad (approximately 15 minutes from pickup location)
• Coordinate helicopter sling operations transporting food and packages into Supai Village
• Maintain delivery logs, chain-of-custody documentation, and package inventory logs
• Photograph packages upon receipt and at delivery confirmation
• Communicate delivery timing with Havasupai Elementary School staff
• Ensure all deliveries are documented and confirmed

Cold Chain Food Safety Responsibility
This role requires strict adherence to food safety and temperature-controlled transportation standards.

The courier must:
✔ Maintain safe temperature ranges for all perishable food items
 ✔ Use commercial insulated coolers capable of maintaining required food temperatures
 ✔ Record temperature logs throughout the delivery process
 ✔ Ensure food is promptly transferred to refrigeration upon arrival in Supai

Experience with temperature-sensitive food delivery is required.

Required Qualifications

✔ Minimum 2 years experience in one or more of the following:
• Food delivery
 • Courier services
 • Logistics transportation
 • Temperature-sensitive deliveries

✔ Valid driver’s license

✔ ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification

✔ Ability to maintain delivery documentation and temperature logs

✔ Strong communication and organizational skills

✔ Must be able to pass a federal background investigation (BIE Tier I with Childcare designation)

✔ Must be a U.S. citizen

Candidates with the following experience are strongly encouraged to apply:
• Food distribution or grocery delivery logistics
 • Restaurant or institutional food supply delivery
 • Medical or pharmaceutical courier services
 • Temperature-controlled transportation (cold chain logistics)
 • Rural or remote delivery environments
 • Inventory verification and chain-of-custody documentation

Experience coordinating deliveries with multiple partners such as vendors, logistics providers, and transportation operators is highly valued.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity.
