Position Summary:
The Community Participation Support (CPS) Worker provides direct support to individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism to help them actively engage in their communities, develop life skills, build meaningful relationships, and increase independence.

CPS Workers assist individuals in participating in community activities, working toward goals identified in their Individual Support Plan (ISP), and developing skills that support greater independence and social inclusion.

This position offers flexible scheduling, with hours ranging from casual to full-time depending on participant needs and availability.

Key Responsibilities

Program Support

  • Follow CPS schedules, activity plans, and instructions developed by the CPS Specialist.

  • Support individuals in working toward skill-building goals such as social interaction, communication, community safety, money management, decision-making, and independent living skills.

  • Encourage independence while providing appropriate prompts, guidance, and support.

  • Promote positive engagement and meaningful participation during all activities.

Community Participation

  • Support individuals in participating in community activities based on their interests, preferences, and goals.

  • Assist individuals with accessing community locations such as stores, parks, libraries, restaurants, gyms, and other recreational or social settings.

  • Actively engage with individuals during outings (no passive supervision).

  • Help individuals explore and select meaningful activities within the community.

Safety & Supervision

  • Ensure individuals are properly supervised during all CPS activities and outings.

  • Follow all safety plans, behavioral support plans, and medical guidelines as trained.

  • Maintain appropriate staffing ratios at all times.

  • Monitor for changes in behavior, mood, or health and report concerns to the CPS Specialist.

Documentation

  • Complete CPS service notes following each outing or shift using the required documentation format.

  • Document community locations visited, activities completed, goals addressed, and individual progress or concerns.

  • Immediately report any incidents, injuries, or unusual events according to agency policy.

Transportation

  • Utilize agency vehicles when transporting individuals to and from community activities.

  • Assist individuals in safely navigating the community and following community expectations and rules.

  • Ensure safe transportation practices at all times.
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
