Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Child Care Director, supervise a designated group of children while in transport from schools to the YMCA site. Program hours are 1pm-6pm and shifts vary in between those hours.  All applicants must be available by 2:30pm to be considered.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide appropriate bus activities in accordance with established Child Care Services regulations.
  • Promote and enforce established vehicle rules and procedures to insure passenger safety.
  • Act as the Y liaison with school personnel when gathering children at the schools.
  • Provide open communication with children, the school and the program, to assure highest standards of care are being met.
  • Participate in transportation training and certification annually.
  • Participate in maintenance of cleanliness and safety of the vehicles.
  • Provide activities in accordance with established Child Care Services regulations.
  • Establish and promote an environment to allow child growth physically, emotionally, socially.
  • Model the Y’s healthy eating standards by consuming HEPA compliant foods and beverages during meal and snack times; and avoiding consumption of food and beverages during other program times.
  • Model the Y’s active living standards by engaging in games and physical activities with youth.
  • Make observations and assess information for inclusion in child evaluations. 
  • Provide open communication with parents and children to assure highest standards of care are being met.
  • Participate in program planning, monitoring of participation, and evaluation of expected results.
  • Participate in developing, promoting, and enforcing of established ground rules.
  • Participate in maintenance of cleanliness and safety of the physical environment.
  • Age: 16 minimum, 18+ preferred

Qualifications: 
  • Must pass a BRC from MA Early Education and Care and complete all EEC requirements.
  • Current knowledge of state and YMCA standards and regulations specific to early education and child care.
  • Ability to effectively interact with school personnel and  children on a range of issues.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing and managing a large group of children.
  • Demonstrated ability to make mature judgments in difficult situations.

Compensation: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
