About the Role
Illinois School Bus Permit Required
Visions Transportation is hiring dependable School Van Drivers to provide safe, reliable transportation for students throughout the Chicago South Suburbs.
This position is for candidates who already hold a current Illinois School Bus Permit/endorsement. If you do not currently have your school bus credentials, please apply to our Driver Trainee position instead.
Schedule:
- AM Shift: Approximately 6:30–8:15 AM, depending on route
- PM Shift: Approximately 1:30–4:00 PM, depending on route
- Midday Break: Unpaid break between shifts
- Monthly Meetings: Required staff meetings (approximately 2 hours)
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport students safely to and from school along assigned routes
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Maintain order and ensure student safety while boarding, riding, and exiting
- Communicate professionally with students, families, and staff
- Conduct required pre/post vehicle safety inspections before and after each route and report any mechanical or safety concerns
- Report delays, incidents, or emergencies promptly
Requirements:
- Must be 25 years of age or older
- Clean driving record (no disqualifying infractions within the last 36 months)
- Valid and properly classified driver’s license with required school bus/van endorsements (or willingness to obtain, with company guidance)
- Ability to pass a background check, physical, drug screening, and TB test
- Comfortable working a split shift schedule on school days
Compensation & Growth
- $25–$30 per hour, based on school transportation experience, qualifications, and assigned responsibilities.
