Position Summary

The  Food Service & Facilities Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized environment throughout the Kitchen and school. This role supports daily operations by ensuring kitchen, common areas and outdoor spaces are clean, functional, and welcoming for children, staff, and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.
  • Complete daily classroom laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and returning items to classrooms.
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Set up and break down rooms for meetings, events, or classroom activities as needed.
  • Assist with light maintenance tasks (changing light bulbs, minor repairs, restocking supplies).
  • Monitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns to leadership.
  • Maintain outdoor areas including playgrounds, walkways, and entrances.
  • Support staff with operational needs as requested.
  • Follow all school policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures.
  •  Assist the School Chef with food service setup, and maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and food service areas.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous janitorial, custodial, or porter experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
Schedule
  • Flexible schedule based on school needs.
  • May include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.

Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
