The Service Manager reports to the HVAC Director, and is responsible for the management, administration, growth, and profitability of the Service Department, including responsibility for Service.

We’re looking for an Experienced Residential HVAC Service Technician ready to take the next step into a leadership role. This position is ideal for a strong residential service tech with 2–5 years of hands-on experience who also has experience leading, mentoring, and helping build a service team.

You’ll remain active in the field while playing a key role in supporting junior technicians, improving service processes, and helping grow a high-performing residential HVAC service department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by example with a strong focus on quality workmanship, safety, and customer experience
  • Diagnose, service, and repair residential HVAC systems (gas furnaces, heat pumps, AC, boilers, mini-splits)
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system tune-ups
  • Clearly explain issues and solutions to homeowners in a professional, friendly manner
  • Accurately complete service tickets, notes, and recommendations
  • Follow safety procedures and company standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed
  • Mentor and support junior technicians; assist with onboarding and training
  • Help build and refine residential service department systems, workflows, and standards
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers, managers and customers
  • Provide troubleshooting support and technical guidance to other technicians
  • Maintain accurate service documentation
  • Represent the company professionally in customers’ homes

Required Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of residential HVAC service experience
  • EPA Universal Certification (required)
  • Experience acting as a lead technician, mentor, or trainer
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on residential systems
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently while supporting team development

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience helping launch or scale a residential HVAC service department
  • Familiarity with residential service software and dispatch systems
  • Interest in long-term leadership or service management growth
  • HVAC Journeyman License preferred

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive pay based on experience ($38/hour starting pay, more for more experience)
