Fireplace & Chimney Authority, Chicagoland’s largest fireplace and chimney company, is growing—and we’re looking for motivated, eager-to-learn Chimney Sweep Apprentices to join our expanding Chimney Sweep Division.
This is a hands-on, paid apprenticeship with on-the-job training, mentorship from certified professionals, and a clear path toward certification and advancement.

What You’ll Do
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Clean and prepare work vehicles and equipment
- Organize tools, mix mortar, and prep/break down job sites
- Lift and move brick, stone, and materials
- Set up and safely use ladders, scaffolding, and fall-protection equipment
- Work on the ground, ladders, roofs of varying heights and pitches, and scaffolding
- Assist both the Chimney Sweep Division, Masonry Division, and Fireplace Installation Division as needed
- Work closely with certified chimney sweeps while receiving hands-on training
- Study and train toward chimney sweep certification
- Progress toward managing your own service route
What We’re Looking For
Qualified candidates must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Be comfortable working at heights
- Be able to lift 50 lbs
- Have reliable transportation and consistent attendance
- Hold a valid Illinois driver’s license
- Pass a background check
- Have strong people skills and a professional attitude
- Be punctual, dependable, and safety-minded

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

The business originally offered services like repairs, cleanings, and inspections with the goal of adding value and longevity to their customers homes.
After listening to the unique needs of local homeowners over the years, our founders noticed a need to extend their offerings to include fireplaces and outdoor living items. Other stores at the time were not customer friendly, clean, or modern. This problem sparked the idea for Fireplace and Chimney Authority as we experience it today.
Today our two locations are not only the most customer centric in the industry, our unwavering commitment to offering an ultra-extensive experience is second to none. Our knowledgeable team of industry experts takes every customer from the beginning design stages to purchase and installation with confidence and ease. However, our value does not end after purchase. We appreciate every customer and strive to maintain integral lasting relationships. As a result, our clients feel comfortable calling our trusted team for annual inspections and maintenance for years to come.
