Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced inside salesperson to manage and respond to leads posted on the EnergySage solar marketplace.

This role focuses on speed, consistency, and intelligent quoting, ensuring every EnergySage lead receives a thoughtful proposal from Exact Solar using our design software (OpenSolar) and best-practice messaging.

The goal is to:

  • Quote every viable EnergySage lead quickly
  • Position Exact Solar as a trusted, premium local installer
  • Identify high-intent customers
  • Transition interested prospects to our senior technical sales consultants to close the sale
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys high-volume lead engagement, marketplace sales strategy, and solar proposal development, while working closely with an experienced closing team.

Key Responsibilities

EnergySage Lead Management
  • Monitor EnergySage marketplace for newly posted homeowner projects
  • Quickly assess project viability and eligibility
  • Ensure timely quoting on all viable leads
Proposal Creation
  • Generate solar proposals using OpenSolar design software
  • Follow Exact Solar proposal templates, pricing structure, and messaging standards
  • Ensure proposals are competitive while maintaining our premium quality positioning
Marketplace Engagement
  • Respond to homeowner questions within the EnergySage platform
  • Use clear, professional, educational messaging aligned with Exact Solar’s brand
  • Provide guidance that helps homeowners understand system sizing, pricing, and quality differences
Lead Qualification
  • Identify homeowners who demonstrate genuine interest in moving forward
  • Gather additional information when necessary (roof condition, electrical service, etc.)
  • Encourage interested customers to schedule consultations
Sales Handoff
  • Schedule consultations with Exact Solar’s senior sales consultants
  • Provide a concise summary of the homeowner’s goals and questions
  • Ensure smooth handoff and customer experience
Continuous Optimization
  • Track win rates and marketplace competitiveness
  • Provide feedback on proposal pricing and positioning
  • Assist with ongoing improvements to EnergySage quoting strategy

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience in solar sales, inside sales, or solar proposal development
  • Understands residential solar system basics (system sizing, kWh production, pricing, incentives)
  • Is comfortable using solar software tools such as OpenSolar, Aurora, or similar platforms
  • Can manage high-volume lead engagement with speed and consistency
  • Writes clearly and professionally when communicating with homeowners online
  • Understands that EnergySage is a competitive marketplace and can position value effectively
  • Is organized and able to track multiple opportunities simultaneously

Success in This Role Looks Like

Within the first 3–6 months:
  • 100% of viable EnergySage leads are quoted
  • Response times are among the fastest on the platform
  • Qualified homeowners are regularly scheduled with senior sales consultants
  • Exact Solar significantly increases its EnergySage win rate

Compensation Structure

To align incentives with performance, compensation includes:

Base Salary
Moderate base salary providing stability.

Qualified Opportunity Bonus
Commission for each homeowner who:
  • Engages meaningfully with the proposal
  • Schedules a consultation with our closing team
Closed Deal Commission
Additional commission for deals that close from EnergySage leads.

This ensures the role is motivated to both generate interest and support successful outcomes.
