Route Driver (CDL B) – Local Morning Shift
A Boston-based worker-owned cooperative seeks a responsible, professional Route Driver to support our growing food-waste collection business. This is a local morning-shift position with a steady Monday-Friday schedule and a path to worker ownership.
CERO is looking for someone dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable with physically demanding work. The ideal candidate has commercial driving experience, takes safety seriously, and is prepared to work hard throughout the shift.
Compensation & Schedule
Starting Pay: $28/hour
After 6 Months: $30/hour
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Worker-Ownership: Eligible after probation period

Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class B CDL trucks and standard box trucks on assigned local routes
- Use the routing app and service each customer listed on the route or assigned by the operations manager
- Move and empty food waste containers at each stop
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic preventative maintenance, including checking fluids, safety equipment, and tires
- Adhere to assigned schedules, company policies, and all local, state, and federal driving laws
- Complete route logs and other required reporting using a phone or tablet
- Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift and unload material at designated facilities
- Maintain courteous and professional interactions with customers
- Report vehicle or route issues promptly
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement
- Minimum 2+ years of commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screen
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, and pulling containers over 100 pounds
- Basic knowledge of truck components in order to complete pre- and post-trip inspections
- Familiarity with GPS, routing apps, and service log tools
- Understanding of relevant truck driving laws and regulations
- Waste collection experience preferred, but not required

CERO (Cooperative Energy, Recycling, and Organics) is an award-winning commercial composting company based out of Dorchester, MA.
CERO provides food waste pickup and diversion services for a wide range of commercial clients in the metro Boston area, and transports organic waste to local farms where it's are recycled into rich soil products used to support the local agricultural economy. Our mission is simple: keep food waste out of landfills, save money for our clients, and provide good green jobs for Boston’s hard-working communities.
