We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer – Substation Design to join a leading engineering team in the energy and utilities sector. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead and support substation projects up to 765kV, encompassing both physical and protection & control (P&C) design elements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support substation projects (69kV–765kV), including layouts, schematics, and detailed design.
  • Develop drawings, wiring diagrams, grounding systems, relay panel layouts, and auxiliary power systems.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages, ensuring adherence to technical standards and project requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and oversee technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Prepare engineering budgets, schedules, construction specifications, and procurement documents.
  • Support business development, proposal preparation, and client presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage substation design (69kV and above) for a U.S. power utility.
  • Project Lead or Technical Specialist experience.
  • Strong background in QA/QC and client coordination.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $120,000 – $210,000 per year (commensurate with experience and location)

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working for an established engineering consulting firm such as Burns & McDonnell, TRC, Ulteig, or HDR, with demonstrated expertise in high-voltage substation design and project delivery.
Compensation: $120,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year
