Primary Job Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage children with a full spectrum of neurological conditions including epilepsy, headache, neurogenetic and neuromuscular disorders, developmental delay, ADHD, movement disorders, and neuroimmunologic conditions.
  • Perform and interpret EEGs, EMGs, and other relevant neurodiagnostic studies as appropriate to training and credentialing.
  • Develop comprehensive, individualized treatment and management plans for patients and families.
  • Provide inpatient consultative services at affiliated hospitals as needed.
  • Maintain a clinical volume of approximately 8–12 patients per day in the outpatient setting.
  • Participate in on-call coverage rotation shared among NJPNI pediatric neurologists.
Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Care

  • Work closely with NJPNI subspecialists including pediatric neurosurgeons, physiatrists, neuropsychologists, and nurse practitioners.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care coordination meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with referring physicians, primary care providers, therapists, and school personnel regarding patient management and recommendations.

Academic and Professional Development

  • Participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows through affiliated academic programs.
  • Contribute to ongoing research, publications, or quality improvement projects as aligned with NJPNI’s academic mission.
  • Stay current with advances in pediatric neurology through continuing medical education (CME), conferences, and professional society participation.

Administrative and Compliance

  • Complete timely and accurate electronic medical documentation in accordance with NJPNI policies.
  • Maintain all required licensure, credentialing, and compliance certifications.
  • Adhere to institutional and departmental quality, safety, and regulatory standards. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Pediatric Neurology (ABPN).
  • Active or eligible New Jersey medical license.
  • Strong clinical background in general pediatric neurology.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.
Preferred:

  • Fellowship training or subspecialty expertise (e.g., epilepsy, neuromuscular, neurogenetics, neuroimmunology, movement disorders).
  • Experience with EMR systems  
  • Interest in clinical research, medical education, or program development.

Schedule

  • Full-Time position.
  • Primarily outpatient care with limited inpatient consultation coverage.
  • Rotating call schedule shared across the department.
  • Opportunities for hybrid telehealth and multi-site practice.

Salary Range

Competitive, commensurate with experience and credentials.
