Job Summary

WGS Systems, LLC, is looking for RF Communications Systems Engineer with varying experience
and with backgrounds in military and commercial radio communications system engineering to
join our company. Primary work activities will take place in Frederick, Maryland with occasional
travel supporting various events.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in the development, analysis, design,
and performance planning for military and commercial radio communications and networks.
Communications domains include terrestrial, airborne, and satellite with applications in both
wideband and narrowband data and voice. Radio networking can include mesh/MANET, point-
to-point, and point-to-multipoint. The candidate should have strong experience and knowledge
in modulation, RF propagation, networking protocols, RF performance modeling and planning,
and antenna modeling and analysis.

Key Responsibilities/Duties Include:

  • System level design and analysis of military and/or commercial voice and data radio
    systems
  • Experience with network and radio encryption standards and operations for both
    commercial and/or military systems
  •  Radio and network system planning, modeling, and performance analysis
  • Design of radio network systems for terrestrial and airborne applications, including
    mesh/MANET networks
  • Design of radio networks for wideband and narrowband voice and data using satellite
    communications, with demonstrated experience with Iridium, Inmarsat, or others highly
    desired
  • Detailed planning and conducting of communications systems testing
  • Close interaction with customer personnel during test and deployment events
  • Provide communications integration support to prime and sub-contractors
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing of communications components and systems
  • Unit-level troubleshooting and debugging
  • Test results data collection and support of analysis
  • Provide weekly status updates to Leadership
Qualification requirements:

  • Candidate must be a United States citizen and will be required to maintain a
    government SECRET security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, master’s degree desired
  • 10+ years’ experience with commercial and/or government radio communication
    systems and networks
  • Expert understanding of radio network design, signal modulation, RF propagation and
    cascade analysis, and antenna performance modeling
  • Demonstrated understanding of data networking protocols and routing schema
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to develop system schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Ability to independently develop detailed technical reports
  • Perform engineering and scientific analysis of collected test data
  • Develop system simulations and perform modeling of communications networks
  • Proficient in MS Office, Windows-based applications, Matlab and/or other technical
    analysis, modeling and design toolsets
  • Occasional domestic and international travel will be required
Compensation:
  • Minimum 108,000 Maximum 147,000
