Position Overview
AKIVA is seeking a Finance/Accounting Clerk to support a public sector client in New York’s Capital District with financial reporting, budget tracking, invoice processing, and general ledger maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to gain public sector experience. Key Responsibilities
• Prepare financial reports, budget summaries, and variance analyses
• Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements
• Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate entries
• Track budget expenditures and flag variances for management review
• Reconcile accounts and prepare month-end closing documentation
• Assist with annual audit preparation and compliance documentation
• Support procurement and purchasing documentation as needed
• Use AI-powered analytics tools to generate insights, automate reconciliations, and produce presentation-ready financial summaries
• Prepare financial reports, budget summaries, and variance analyses

Required Qualifications
• 1–2 years of finance, accounting, or bookkeeping experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, charts, pivot tables)
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with enterprise financial systems or ERP platforms
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must pass background check and drug screening
• Valid work authorization required
• 1–2 years of finance, accounting, or bookkeeping experience
