Craftsman/Craftswoman
Gig Harbor, WA | Full-Time | $23-$25/hour
About the Position
At RealCraft, we build solid wood doors by hand — the kind of work that takes real skill and leaves you with something worth being proud of. Our woodworkers machine, assemble, and finish custom door components from start to crate, using quality joinery, careful material selection, and an eye for detail that shows in the final product. If you know your way around a woodshop and take satisfaction in doing things right, this is the kind of place you’ll fit in.
Who We Are
RealCraft is a direct-to-consumer manufacturer of premium solid wood doors and hardware, based in Gig Harbor, Washington. Every door we build is handcrafted on-site by skilled woodworkers using traditional joinery and solid wood. Our customers are architects, designers, and homeowners across the US who want something that lasts. We’re the only DTC manufacturer offering solid wood carriage doors and solid wood bi-folding garage doors.
What You’ll Do
Build and finish doors:
• Cut, machine, and assemble solid wood door components with care and precision.
• Apply joinery techniques that make for strong, durable construction.
• Select materials thoughtfully, balancing quality with what the project calls for.
• Sand, prep hardware, and apply finishing touches so every door leaves the shop right.
• Crate finished products securely for shipping.
Hold the standard:
• Inspect your work before it moves forward — quality is the job, not an afterthought.
• Spot ways to improve the process and speak up when you do.
• Work consistently, whether it’s the first piece of the day or the last.
Keep the shop running well:
• Follow shop safety practices and use tools and protective gear the right way.
• Keep your workspace clean and organized.
• Help maintain equipment so it stays in good working order.
What We’re Looking For
• 2+ years of woodworking experience in a production, carpentry, or manufacturing setting.
• Comfortable with hand tools, power tools, and standard woodshop equipment.
• Detail-oriented and consistent — you care how things turn out.
• Reliable, on time, and easy to work with.
• High school diploma or GED.
What We Offer
Pay & Schedule
• $23 - $25/hour depending on experience.
• Monday through Friday, consistent hours.
Health Insurance
RealCraft pays 80% of your medical premium. Three Regence BlueShield PPO plans to choose from, with employee-only costs starting around $112–$128/month. Dental and vision are available as add-ons for a few dollars more. Every medical plan includes a $25,000 group life insurance policy.
Retirement
Simple IRA through Charles Schwab with a 3% company match when you contribute 3% or more. You’re eligible after six months.
Time Off
• 80 hours (10 days) PTO in your first year, increasing to 100, 120, and 160 hours as you grow with us.
• PTO starts accruing from day one and can be used after your 90-day introductory period.
• 8 paid company holidays plus extra paid time off during the Christmas season.
Extra Perks
• $150 work boot allowance every two years.
• $250 employee referral bonus for full-time hires.
• Bridge toll reimbursement (~50%) if you commute across the Narrows.
• Longevity awards and company apparel.
Working Conditions
This is a full-time, on-site position at our shop in Gig Harbor, Washington. The work is physical — you’ll be on your feet, lifting up to 75 lbs, and doing the kinds of things woodworkers do. If that’s your day-to-day, you’ll feel right at home.
How to Apply
Submit your resume and tell us a little about the work you’ve done. We’re not looking for the perfect application — we’re looking for someone who knows wood, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a team that builds things worth building. Every application is viewed personally.

Our Mission
We're on a mission to eliminate the soullessness of mass production and spearhead a return to craftsmanship by using genuine materials, offering unparalleled customization, and building each door by hand with time- honored techniques.
Our Story
As a young carpenter, Don Rees was dismayed by the consumerism and conformity of the homebuilding industry. He wanted to build homes that were authentic and unique to each client. So Don started building custom timber frame homes in 1976. Don couldn't find ready-made doors that matched each client's style, so he started to make custom doors for each home as well.
This commitment to finding unique solutions led Don to create his first swing-out carriage garage doors on a home in 1995. Soon these solid wood carriage doors became a hallmark of his projects. Before long the demand for carriage doors became so great that Don decided to take the plunge and switch from home building to custom doors full time. That custom door business, Real Carriage Doors, evolved into what is now RealCraft.
Today, RealCraft builds custom, hand-crafted doors and hardware to help homeowners escape from the conformity of mass produced products and find the unique piece that will express their style and last for decades.
