Responsibilities:
§ Serve the tastiest, most consistent product according to PJ’s standards
§ Deliver a smile and excellent hospitality to every person that walks through our doors
§ Stay current with the menu, seasonal items, and promotions
§ Make suggestions that will improve the overall experience of the customer
§ Be obsessive about quality and accuracy
§ Work efficiently by prioritizing and using time wisely
§ Demonstrate sound problem-solving skills
§ Follow written and verbal instructions
§ Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
§ Keep all areas clean and organized, maintain equipment, and report any malfunctions
§ Communicate with fellow staff in a timely, professional, and respectful manner
§ Be ready and willing to go above and beyond for the team and our customers
§ Get involved and enthusiastically spread PJ’s support of our communities

Qualifications:
Barista experience is great but not needed (you will be trained in the PJ’s way of serving the best cup of coffee in town!) However, you must have:
§ An amazing work ethic, outgoing and engaging personality, and a genuine smile!
§ Interpersonal and customer service skills to spread the love!
§ The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment because we will be busy!
§ The skills to communicate via email, phone, text, and company app, because we are great at communicating! (Said no one ever!)
§ The propensity to learn quickly – stuff is always changing!
§ A friendly demeaner and be able to respond positively to pressure, keeping your composure, and staying calm because you can!
Compensation:
§ Starting salary: $15.30/hour (including tip pool*)
*Tipped Employees – Understanding Maryland’s Tip Credits

Phyllis (PJ) Jordan was a pioneer in the coffee industry. Driven by pure passion for the art of coffee making and her strong belief that better beans and superior roasting techniques mattered, she founded PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in 1978.
In 2008, PJ’s was purchased by New Orleans natives and brothers, Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard. The Ballard Brothers continue to honor the tradition of freshness and quality that Phyllis intended, using only the top 1% of Arabica beans harvested around the world and are avid supporter of fair trade and direct trade coffee farmers.
