Position Overview
The Mission Engineer and Integrator supports the full lifecycle of mission capabilities from concept development and operational planning through deployment, sustainment, and operational support. This individual serves as a trusted advisor to government customers and mission partners while ensuring technical solutions align with operational requirements and mission objectives.
The successful candidate will work in dynamic, fast-paced environments, coordinating across diverse stakeholder groups while supporting mission execution, systems integration, operational planning, risk management, and capability deployment activities.
Key Responsibilities
Mission Planning and Operational Integration
Mission Planning and Operational Integration
- Support the review, definition, clarification, and management of operational requirements.
- Analyze mission objectives, targets, and collection requirements to identify appropriate technologies, systems, capabilities, and equipment.
- Support development and refinement of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
- Provide operational input to the design and development of new systems and capabilities.
- Deliver tradecraft recommendations and operational best practices during mission planning and execution.
- Ensure technical and operational constraints are identified, communicated, and addressed throughout mission planning activities.
- Support operational readiness efforts, mission contingency planning, and system troubleshooting activities.
Technical Integration and Systems Engineering Support
- Serve as a technical advisor and consultant to customers, mission partners, and program stakeholders.
- Translate operational requirements into technical specifications, implementation guidance, and use cases.
- Support integration, deployment, sustainment, and operational utilization of mission capabilities.
- Coordinate with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineers, mission managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful capability delivery.
- Support integration testing, operational validation, verification, and acceptance activities.
- Assist in evaluating system performance and recommending enhancements to improve mission effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations regarding end-to-end capability gaps affecting system usability, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement and Mission Support
- Act as a primary interface between customers, mission stakeholders, technical development teams, and operational users.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among government personnel, mission operators, engineers, and executive leadership.
- Support users by providing technical guidance and operational awareness regarding mission capabilities.
- Maintain situational awareness across mission activities, operational environments, and capability deployments.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure requirements remain achievable, measurable, and aligned with mission objectives.
Configuration Management and Change Coordination
- Support configuration management processes including assessment, documentation, implementation, and tracking of technical changes.
- Coordinate stakeholder reviews and approvals related to system modifications and deployments.
- Ensure stakeholders understand configuration impacts, dependencies, implementation timelines, and operational considerations.
- Maintain records of requirements, decisions, changes, and stakeholder actions to ensure accountability and traceability.
Risk Management and Continuous Improvement
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate technical, operational, and programmatic risks.
- Conduct trade studies and assessments using operational feedback, testing results, lessons learned, and emerging mission requirements.
- Develop recommendations to improve mission effectiveness and technical performance.
- Capture and share lessons learned, best practices, and operational insights.
- Support process improvement initiatives, governance activities, and workflow optimization efforts.
Program Execution and Reporting
- Support milestone reviews, readiness assessments, executive briefings, and program reviews.
- Develop and deliver reports, presentations, status updates, and decision-support materials.
- Coordinate documentation reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, compliance, and stakeholder concurrence.
- Support additional mission and program activities as required.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting intelligence, defense, national security, or complex mission-focused environments.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating across government stakeholders, mission operators, technical teams, and leadership.
- Strong understanding of systems integration, operational requirements management, mission planning, and technical capability deployment.
- Experience supporting mission operations throughout the capability lifecycle from concept through deployment and sustainment.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in dynamic, fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
- Active security clearance required.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or Federal Government mission environments.
- Experience supporting intelligence collection operations, mission planning, or operational technology deployments.
- Customer field experience and/or technical operational training.
- Experience supporting technical capability development, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities.
- Familiarity with systems engineering, operational testing, and mission integration processes.
Additional Requirements
- Position requires on-site support Monday through Friday.
- Must obtain and maintain all required customer-specific certifications and training.
- Availability to support mission requirements outside standard business hours when necessary.
- Ability and willingness to travel based on customer needs.
- Travel may include local travel as well as CONUS and OCONUS Temporary Duty (TDY) assignments.
