We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Primary Care Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will support providers in delivering high-quality patient care by performing both clinical and administrative duties in a fast-paced primary care setting. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, professional, and committed to maintaining excellent standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
- Assist providers during patient examinations and treatments.
- Administer injections, vaccinations, and medications as directed.
- Perform basic laboratory procedures, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
- Conduct EKGs and other diagnostic tests as required.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and preventive care.
- Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment.
- Verify patient information and update electronic medical records - ATHENA
- Process prescription refill requests according to office protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine setting.
- Experience with vaccine administration and phlebotomy.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
