Are you passionate about helping both people and animals? We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our mixed animal veterinary practice. Our team provides care for companion animals, livestock, and farm animals, and we are looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional customer service.
As the first point of contact for our clients, you will play an important role in creating a positive experience for pet owners, farmers, and animal caretakers while supporting our veterinary team.
Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and patients with professionalism and compassion
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and coordinate veterinary visits
- Manage drop ship orders; place, post and pay.
- Check patients in and out and maintain accurate medical records
- Process payments and assist with invoicing
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding appointments, services, and follow-up care
- Assist with administrative duties and maintain an organized reception area
- Support veterinarians and staff with client communication and coordination
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse client base, including pet owners and agricultural producers
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn veterinary practice software
- Previous receptionist, customer service, agricultural, or veterinary experience is preferred but not required
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn

Midstate Veterinary Services recently opened a new modern 6,000 sq. ft. facility on Rte. 13 just south of Cortland. As a full service mixed animal practice we offer in-house care of companion animals and on farm care of large animals specializing in a variety of dairy and equine services. The staff, with over 62 years of combined service, and 10 DVMs are committed to providing personal attention to the individual concerns and needs of our patients and their owners.
