This role supports a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) federal contract. You will work alongside VA teams to help deliver services that support veterans and the VA’s mission.
About the Role
In this position, you will operate commercial transport vehicles to safely and efficiently move passengers to, from, and between designated facilities. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, exceptional safety standards, and strict adherence to federal and state transportation guidelines while serving veterans and authorized personnel.

- Safely transport passengers along designated routes according to pre-determined schedules.
- Conduct mandatory pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safe operating conditions (checking brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels).
- Assist passengers during boarding and de-boarding, ensuring proper accommodations for individuals with disabilities or mobility restrictions.
- Maintain clean, compliant, and well-regulated cabin conditions in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and VA workplace safety protocols.
- Accurately log hours, miles, passenger counts, and any vehicle maintenance issues or incidents.
- Adapt driving patterns to account for changing weather, traffic, or construction delays while maintaining communication with dispatch or program supervisors.
Qualifications & Skills
- Active California Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B).
- Required Passenger (P) Endorsement; Air Brakes endorsement is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of professional commercial passenger driving or shuttle operation experience.
- Current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major recent violations or suspensions.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, strong time-management, and safety-first mindset.
Contract Details
- This position supports a federal nonpersonal services contract with the VA.
- The anticipated contract term includes one base year with up to two optional renewal years, subject to funding, performance, and government needs.
- As part of the federal approval process, the VA may review resumes and may request interviews.
- Final placement and start date are contingent upon VA approval.
- While Kaleidoscope Supply Services manages the staffing process, the employer of record will be the client company supporting the VA contract.
Compensation
- Hourly pay: you are paid only for hours worked.
- No paid holidays (holiday pay is not reimbursed by the government for this role).
- No paid time off (PTO) is included.
- Overtime is not permitted unless pre-approved by both the client and the VA.
This compensation structure is standard for federal nonpersonal services contract positions.

Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, drug and alcohol screening, and onboarding or training. Personnel must comply with VA workplace conduct and appearance standards.
