Our IT Department currently has an opportunity for:

Senior Systems Administrator, Platform Services

This role is focused on Microsoft-based technologies, identity and access services, collaboration platforms, endpoint management, Windows Server services, and related enterprise systems. The successful candidate will provide technical administration, escalation support, documentation, mentorship, and operational improvements for systems used across stores, offices, distribution centres, and other business areas.

As a senior member of the Platform Services team, this position will also guide junior technical staff, support Service Desk and Help Desk escalations, and work directly with end users and business stakeholders when required. This role works closely with Infrastructure Services, Security, Service Desk, Desktop Support, Application teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
 
The responsibilities of this position are as follows:

  • Administer, support, and maintain Microsoft-based enterprise platform services.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 Groups, shared mailboxes, resource mailboxes, and distribution lists.
  • Support Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, user and group administration, access permissions, and related directory services.
  • Support Microsoft Intune or related endpoint management services, including device enrollment, compliance policies, configuration profiles, application deployment, and endpoint troubleshooting.
  • Support Windows Server platform services, file services, print services, IIS, monitoring tools, and related enterprise systems.
  • Provide operational support for SQL Server and database-related platform services, including access support, monitoring, patching, vendor coordination, and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to identity, access, permissions, authentication, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, Windows Server services, and enterprise applications.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for Service Desk, Help Desk, Desktop Support, business users, and other IT teams.
  • Mentor and guide junior systems administrators and support teams through troubleshooting, documentation, knowledge sharing, and process improvement.
  • Work directly with end users and business stakeholders to investigate issues, gather requirements, validate solutions, and explain technical changes.
  • Participate in incident, request, problem, change, and work management processes.
  • Support projects involving upgrades, migrations, new service deployments, system consolidation, automation, and operational improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, support procedures, configuration records, knowledge base articles, and operational runbooks.
The successful candidate will have the following:

  • 4+ years of experience supporting enterprise IT systems, preferably in a medium to large organization.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Server, or endpoint management platforms.
  • Experience acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or providing technical guidance to junior staff or support teams.
  • Experience working directly with end users or business stakeholders to investigate issues, gather requirements, validate resolutions, or support technology adoption.
  • Experience working with incident, request, change, problem, documentation, and work management processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A service-oriented, collaborative, and continuous improvement mindset.
  • PowerShell or other scripting tools
  • File services, print services, IIS, and Windows-based platform services
  • Operational SQL Server or database platform support
  • Enterprise application support, vendor coordination, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • DNS, DHCP, certificates, backup, recovery, virtualization, and business continuity concepts
  • ITSM, ticketing, documentation, and work management tools
Please note that the role is 60% in the office and 40% WFH. The first 3 months will require being in the office.
