Lead Mitigation Technician

Reports To: Mitigation Manager
Location: Paul Davis Restoration of Downriver Detroit
Job Type: Full-Time | Field-Based | On-Call Rotation Required
Pay: $22–$25 per hour, based on IICRC certifications and relevant mitigation experience

The Role

We are looking for an experienced mitigation professional who can take ownership of a job site, lead a crew, and execute emergency mitigation work correctly from start to finish.

This is not an entry-level technician position.

Our Lead Mitigation Technicians are trusted to respond to a loss, take control of the site, direct the field team, execute the mitigation plan, and communicate quickly when conditions in the field require additional direction.

The standard is simple: we should be able to hand you a truck, a crew, and a mitigation loss and trust you to manage the site professionally, perform the work correctly, and leave with the required field documentation complete.

If mitigation is your career and you take pride in doing the work right, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Do

- Respond to emergency water, fire, mold, and storm damage losses
- Take ownership of mitigation execution at the job site
- Lead and direct mitigation technicians, delegate tasks, and maintain job-site standards
- Perform inspections, extraction, demolition, moisture mapping, and equipment setup
- Monitor drying conditions and make appropriate field adjustments within established mitigation standards
- Complete required photos, moisture readings, equipment records, job notes, and field documentation on site before leaving the job
- Use field documentation systems such as DASH, DocuSketch, Xactimate, or similar platforms
- Communicate job conditions, scope changes, safety concerns, and exceptions quickly to the Mitigation Manager
- Maintain a professional, calm presence with homeowners, property owners, adjusters, and other parties on site
- Train and support mitigation technicians in proper field procedures
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergency response
- Assist with contents, post-mitigation cleaning, and other restoration work when needed

What We Expect From a Lead Technician

You can walk into a loss, assess what needs to happen, organize the crew, and get the job moving.

You take initiative and make field decisions without waiting to be managed through every step. At the same time, you understand when a scope, safety, documentation, carrier, or technical issue needs to be escalated to the Mitigation Manager.

You understand that mitigation is both technical work and documented work.

A job is not finished when the equipment is set or demolition is complete. Required photos, moisture readings, equipment records, and field notes must be completed on site before you leave.

We operate according to company standards, IICRC standards, and applicable carrier and insurance requirements. Experience is important, but so is the ability to work within an established mitigation system and execute it consistently.

What You Bring

- Real-world mitigation experience in water damage restoration
- Experience managing mitigation losses and directing a small field crew
- Strong understanding of extraction, demolition, moisture mapping, drying equipment, and job-site procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers and team members
- Strong documentation habits and comfort using field technology
- Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the Mitigation Manager
- Comfortable participating in an on-call rotation and responding to after-hours losses
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record

IICRC WRT certification is strongly preferred. ASD and additional IICRC certifications are a major advantage.

Candidates with strong mitigation experience who have not yet earned IICRC certifications may still be considered at the appropriate starting pay level and must be willing to complete required certification training.
