Francis Construction Group is seeking a highly organized, tech-savvy Assistant Project Manager with an architectural background to support our Senior Project Managers, Estimating Department, and Operations Team throughout the preconstruction and construction phases of commercial projects.

The ideal candidate has strong experience interpreting construction documents, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, developing bid packages, and supporting project execution from design through closeout. This individual will play a critical role in bridging design intent with construction while helping streamline processes and improve overall project efficiency.

This position is ideal for someone looking to grow into a Project Manager role while working alongside experienced construction professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction

  •  Review architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings to develop comprehensive trade scope sheets. 
  •  Assist estimators by preparing bid packages and scope narratives. 
  •  Solicit subcontractor pricing and track bid invitations. 
  •  Review subcontractor proposals to ensure all project scope has been captured. 
  •  Identify scope gaps, exclusions, overlaps, and inconsistencies before bid submission. 
  •  Prepare bid comparison spreadsheets and leveling analyses. 
  •  Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews. 
Project Management Support

  •  Support two Senior Project Managers with day-to-day project administration. 
  •  Coordinate RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, samples, and material approvals. 
  •  Review shop drawings for compliance with contract documents before submitting for design team review. 
  •  Track procurement schedules and long-lead materials. 
  •  Maintain project logs including: 
    •  RFI Log 
    •  Submittal Log 
    •  Change Order Log 
    •  Drawing Revision Log 
    •  Procurement Log 
  •  Assist in preparing owner pay applications, subcontractor pay requests, and change orders. 
  •  Attend project meetings and document meeting minutes. 
  •  Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors. 
Technical & Administrative Support

  •  Serve as a technology resource for the project management team, helping improve workflows and supporting senior staff with software and digital project tools. 
  •  Organize electronic project files and maintain document control. 
  •  Assist with scheduling and project reporting. 
  •  Develop spreadsheets, reports, and project tracking dashboards. 
  •  Support implementation and utilization of construction management software. 
Qualifications

Required

  •  Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. 
  •  Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial construction or architecture. 
  •  Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. 
  •  Experience reviewing: 
    •  Shop Drawings 
    •  Submittals 
    •  Product Data 
    •  RFIs 
  •  Experience developing trade scope sheets from construction documents. 
  •  Ability to evaluate subcontractor proposals and verify complete project coverage. 
  •  Strong understanding of CSI Divisions and commercial construction practices. 
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  •  Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
