SCHOOL OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SUPERVISOR
The Shirley Aninias School | New York, NY | Full-Time, 12-Month | $95,000–$110,000
ABOUT SAS
The Shirley Aninias School is a private, 12-month, ABA-based special education program for neurodiverse students ages 4–13+. We build highly individualized programs for each child's academic, sensory, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
THE ROLE
A senior clinical role, not a director position. The Occupational Therapy Supervisor carries a direct OT caseload while leading the school's OT and PT team: delivering hands-on therapy, mentoring OT staff, and coordinating the quality, scheduling, and documentation of services. Reports to the Assistant Principal.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Direct Therapy
• Carry an OT caseload, providing individual and small-group therapy per student IEPs
• Complete evaluations and re-evaluations of motor, sensory, self-care, and environmental needs
• Design interventions for fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills
• Recommend adaptive strategies and tools that support independence in the classroom
Supervision & Team Leadership
• Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and coaching to the school's occupational therapists
• Provide operational oversight of the PT team, including scheduling, caseloads, and service delivery
• Support onboarding of new OT and PT staff
• Lead team meetings and balance caseloads so services stay consistent across classrooms
Quality & Compliance
• Ensure OT and PT services align with IEP goals and are delivered with fidelity
• Review evaluations, service logs, and progress reports for accuracy and timeliness
• Confirm all therapy staff hold current NYS licensure and credentials
• Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Collaboration
• Integrate OT and PT goals into classroom routines with teachers and staff
• Participate in IEP and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Communicate with families on progress, goals, and home carryover
• Train staff on sensory tools, motor strategies, and adaptive techniques
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
• Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy
• Current NYS OT license/certification in good standing
• 5+ years of OT experience, preferably in a school setting with neurodiverse students
• Supervisory, lead-clinician, or mentoring experience, or clear readiness for it
• Strong knowledge of school-based service delivery and IEP documentation
Preferred
• Experience coordinating both OT and PT services
• Knowledge of special education law (IDEA, ADA, Section 504)
• Familiarity with sensory integration and assistive/adaptive technology
• Experience on an ABA-based or multidisciplinary school team
BENEFITS
Matching 401(k), health/dental/vision, long-term disability, commuter benefits, generous leave, and ongoing professional development.
The Shirley Aninias School is an equal opportunity employer.

Our mission is to partner with families and our community to capitalize on the strengths of our neurodiverse students. We do this through an individualized teaching model to ensure academic, language, behavioral, and social-emotional success.
We celebrate variations of how they think, learn, and process information. Every student’s learning style is respected to foster self-confidence, resilience and autonomy. We have created a school community experience that works effectively for all.
We celebrate our students for who they are by:
- Embracing their uniqueness, talents, and passions
- Bridging the gap of all neurotypes
- Teaching self-advocacy skills and encouraging autonomy
- Committing to their success in a welcoming community that embraces diversity and inclusion
Philosophy
The Shirley Aninias School is a developmentally oriented program committed to our unique learners. Our Whole Child Approach prioritizes the full scope of a child’s developmental needs (cognitive, social-emotional, behavioral, fine, gross motor, and health development) to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.
We emphasize social, language, and behaviorally rich learning experiences in and out of school for each child. We value relationship-centered learning environments in the areas of academics, social, emotional, speech-language, for deeper learning that provides an integrated student support to ensure progress.
