  • Supports collaboration across departments and understands the importance of continuity of patient care
  • Represents AVS values through Compassion, Respect, Education, Advancement, and Service
🌟 What Leadership Looks Like at AVS

Being a Lead Technician does not mean simply managing tasks. It means being someone the team can rely on, learn from, and feel comfortable communicating with.

We are looking for someone who will lead from the floor, support their teammates, advocate for excellent nursing care, and help create an environment where both our patients and our people can thrive.

Our leaders are expected to practice Nonviolent Communication (NVC) by approaching conversations with respect, curiosity, and professionalism. This includes:

  • Communicating concerns using clear, objective observations rather than assumptions or blame
  • Listening to understand another team member’s perspective before responding
  • Recognizing the needs of the patient, team, and hospital when working through challenges
  • Providing feedback in a respectful, constructive, and solution-focused manner
  • Making clear and reasonable requests when expectations or behaviors need to change
  • Addressing conflict directly and professionally rather than allowing frustration to build
  • Creating a psychologically safe environment where team members feel comfortable asking questions, speaking up, and receiving feedback
  • Modeling calm, respectful communication during stressful or high-pressure situations
  • Encouraging collaboration and helping the team work toward solutions rather than assigning blame
A strong Lead Technician understands that how we communicate is just as important as what we communicate. Leadership at AVS means maintaining accountability while treating others with compassion and respect.

This is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the continued growth of our Specialty Surgery department while advancing your own leadership and clinical skills.
