• Ensure start-up, in-process, changeover, and finished-product checks are completed at required frequencies and against approved specifications.
• Review quality records for accuracy, completeness, and timely escalation of concerns.
• Oversee product testing such as weight, moisture, sodium, nitrogen, bulk density, appearance, flavor, packaging integrity, and coding.
• Verify ingredients, formulations, packaging materials, labels, and product codes meet requirements.
• Review out-of-specification results and nonconforming product or materials; initiate authorized holds and escalate concerns promptly.
• Oversee GMP, hygiene, allergen-control, foreign-material, pre-operational, sanitation-verification, metal-detector, traceability, and environmental-monitoring activities.
• Support investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, audits, mock recalls, product trials, and customer or regulatory visits.
• Partner with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Quality leadership to resolve shift-level issues while protecting product integrity.
• Provide effective shift handoffs and ensure unresolved concerns are communicated to the appropriate leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical coursework in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred.
• Prior quality experience in food manufacturing is required; Quality Technician or comparable hands-on quality experience is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and hold others accountable through formal supervision or lead responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, preventive controls, allergen controls, environmental monitoring, and food-manufacturing quality practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot product, process, testing, and documentation concerns and determine when escalation is required.
• Experience using measurement and testing equipment and interpreting product specifications, sampling plans, and written procedures.
• Strong judgment, problem-solving, communication, organization, and recordkeeping skills.
• Comfort using computers and electronic quality or production systems.
• Ability to work an assigned shift, including nights, weekends, overtime, or schedule changes based on production needs.
