DESCRIPTION
This Position is on Site at Ft. Wayne, Indiana. If candidate who does not live in Ft. Wayne area will qualify for Living and Travel financial Compensation.
Candidate will be responsible for facilitating the effective execution of launch activities within General Assembly in Southeast Michigan. The Zone Engineer will provide technical expertise, project coordination, on-site resource management and act as the single point of contact between the Plant and ME Vehicle Systems Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Liaison between Plant Engineering, Central Engineering, Equipment Suppliers, Installation Contractors, and all departments at the Assembly Plant
· Single point contact for tooling/equipment issues, concerns and possible continuous throughput improvement ideas/projects
· Provide technical direction and project management oversight to suppliers, contractors and/or plant maintenance for new tooling and kit installations
· Support tryout and debug of tooling and equipment at assembly plant
· Maintaining accurate Tooling Status List for shipment and installation to meet targets.
· Receive all tooling deliveries/packages based on installation schedule
· Support new vehicle launch at the assembly plant which will include various shifts and long hours during construction and launch events
· Ensure all ME tool designs are data-banked and spare parts information is available to plant
· Assist in the planning, estimating, and evaluating new manufacturing processes and equipment for installation. Often requires conducting plant floor walks with IEs and Contractors to understand scope of work
· Attend (1) plant safety walk per month to maintain VSGA presence and site on safety
· Communicate project status, results and lessons learned to VS management
· Work with VS-ME to drive any error proofing features into product designs based on past lesson learnings
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing / Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
· Demonstrated strong project management skills and work experience
· Demonstrated high level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
· Broad and thorough knowledge of tooling systems, engineering techniques, and manufacturing processes across all areas of the plant
· Self-motivated with ability to initiate and apply innovative ideas and concepts
· High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with Plant personnel, Manufacturing Engineering Personnel and Vendors / Contractors
Basic Preferred
· Vehicle assembly plant/program launch experience with successful individual achievements or strong team-based achievements
· Thorough knowledge of machine tools and processes within General Assembly
· Experience in tool design and build, installation and follow-ups for continuous improvements
· Experience in application of math-based processes (such as UG and TeamCenter)
· Familiar with manufacturing cost estimation process and financial reporting
· Previous ME experience
· Assembly plant experience in Production, Plant Engineering/Maintenance, Quality, or Industrial Engineering
· Previous General Motors Experience is Required
· For out of town Employee Daily Per Diem or Living Expenses will be provided
