Priority Group Services NJ is hiring paraprofessionals to support students across the South Orange-Maplewood School District. In this shared assignment, you support several students within a classroom, working alongside the certified teacher in general and special education settings.
This is a school-year position with consistent hours and a set daily schedule. You are employed by Priority Group Services NJ, not by the school district.
PAY AND SCHEDULE: $21.00 per hour. Up to 28 hours per week, regular school year. 2026-2027 school year, through June 30, 2027.
OPENINGS: 49 positions across 12 school sites - Delia Bolden (3), Marshall (9), Seth Boyden (3), Tuscan (3), Clinton (3), South Mountain (1), South Mountain Annex (1), Maplewood Middle (8), South Orange Middle (2), Columbia High (7), Montrose (8), Village Babies (1).
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide small-group and individual instructional support under a certified teacher's direction. Assist with classroom management and behavioral intervention plans, including collecting data. Support students' physical needs - dressing, toileting, diapering, mobility, and wheelchair transfers where required. Help students use assistive devices or prosthetics. Supervise students on the playground and assist with bus loading and unloading. Complete clerical tasks assigned by the classroom teacher. Maintain accurate daily progress records and keep all student information confidential. Report any incident of harassment, intimidation, or bullying to school administration immediately.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
48 semester-hour college credits from a regionally accredited institution; 60 credits or an Associate's degree preferred. Currently enrolled students are eligible with 30 or more completed semester-hour credits. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Sufficient English proficiency to read and follow instructions. Working knowledge of the needs of children with disabilities and of appropriate special education classroom practice. Special education experience preferred.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

New Jersey State Police / FBI criminal history background check (N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1). Pre-employment history review (P.L. 2018 c.5, N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.6). Pre-employment drug screening, with participation in random testing during employment. Current Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TB test) result on file. Handle With Care verbal de-escalation and physical intervention certification.
