Job overview:
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Dosimetrist to support the Radiation Oncology Service within the Department of Radiology at Brooke Army Medical Center, TX. The Dosimetrist works closely with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and radiation therapists to create safe and accurate radiation treatment plans for cancer patients. This position uses specialized imaging, treatment-planning software, and radiation dose calculations to determine how prescribed radiation can effectively target tumors while minimizing exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. This is an on-site, emergency/mission-essential position in a large military academic medical center; telework is not authorized.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform 3D radiation treatment planning, including IGRT and IMRT-based techniques, under the supervision of a board-certified medical physicist.
- Develop treatment plans for IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, SGRT, SBRT, SRS, TBI and TSE treatments.
- Perform treatment planning for LDR and HDR brachytherapy, including prostate, gynecologic, breast, and skin applications.
- Perform hand and computer-based Monitor Unit (MU) calculations and other required dosimetry calculations.
- Obtain patient contours, register image sets, determine treatment volumes, and perform CT, MR, and PET image fusion for treatment planning.
- Work with radiation oncologists and medical physicists to develop, review, verify, and finalize treatment plans before treatment.
- Enter and transfer prescriptions and treatment parameters into radiation oncology treatment-planning and record systems.
- Perform required quality-control and quality-assurance activities and maintain accurate treatment documentation.
- Support applicable national clinical research protocols and participate in required continuing education and professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications :
Education: Completion of a Medical Dosimetry program of at least 12 months accredited by JRCERT, or completion of 36 months of clinical medical dosimetry experience under the direction of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist plus 24 continuing-education credits approved by MDCB,
Certification: Must possess and maintain Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certification through the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) and required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical medical dosimetry experience within the last 6 years, including 3D treatment planning with IGRT and IMRT-based techniques under the supervision of a board-certified Medical Physicist.
Licensure: Must maintain a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 0600-1600, while contract personnel may be scheduled Sunday-Saturday across the 0001-2400 coverage period. The Department establishes individual schedules, with shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours, including a 30- or 60-minute unpaid lunch. Regular duty hours are expected to average approximately 40 hours per week. Actual schedules are determined by the supervisor and may change with mission requirements.
Additional Requirements
Candidate must meet BAMC/DHA credentialing, occupational health, physical examination, TB screening and immunization requirements, including annual influenza vaccination. Contract personnel must have an active Tier 1 investigation prior to beginning services and maintain the required security status throughout contract performance.
Compensation: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour
