We are seeking an experienced Senior Director, Laboratory Operations Management to provide strategic and operational leadership across clinical laboratory services. This role is ideal for a seasoned healthcare laboratory leader with a strong background in operations, quality, regulatory compliance, workforce development, and process improvement.

The Senior Director will oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, lead credentialed and non-credentialed teams, drive operational excellence, and ensure accurate, timely laboratory reporting while maintaining the highest standards for quality, safety, compliance, and accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership across multiple laboratory units and/or departments.

  • Lead, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing laboratory teams.

  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, coaching, succession planning, and employee development.

  • Translate organizational strategy into actionable operational plans and measurable goals.

  • Manage resources, budgets, staffing, costs, forecasts, and operational priorities.

  • Drive continuous improvement, cost optimization, operational efficiency, and standardization.

  • Establish and maintain laboratory competency, training, and testing standards.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, licensing, quality, safety, and accreditation requirements.

  • Lead corrective and preventive actions related to regulatory and accreditation findings.

  • Partner with executive leadership, physicians, vendors, public health organizations, and other healthcare stakeholders.

  • Oversee quality management systems, audits, process improvement initiatives, and proficiency testing.

  • Ensure laboratory testing is performed accurately and results are properly verified and reported.

  • Improve pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes.

  • Support implementation of new testing methodologies, technologies, and innovative laboratory practices.

  • Oversee inventory, equipment, supplies, facilities, and vendor relationships.

  • Drive strategic laboratory projects and initiatives across local, regional, and national teams.

  • Maintain competency in laboratory testing and perform bench work when appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Healthcare, or a related field plus 12+ years of experience in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or healthcare; OR

  • 15+ years of experience in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or healthcare.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience with direct reports in a healthcare environment.

  • 4+ years of experience managing operational or project budgets.

Compensation: $183,700.00 - $260,100.00 per year
