Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager – Operating Room (OR) to support the daily clinical and operational functions of a General Operating Room. This role provides leadership to OR nursing staff, supports patient flow and staffing, promotes regulatory readiness, and serves as a clinical and operational resource across surgical specialties.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operating room operations, patient flow, and staffing coverage.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop OR nursing staff to promote strong performance, teamwork, and engagement.
- Support a continuous state of readiness for regulatory, accreditation, and quality surveys.
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve patient satisfaction, quality outcomes, workflow, and departmental efficiency.
- Support the Nurse Manager with administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, reporting, and other operational activities.
- Serve as a clinical and operational resource for the surgical team across multiple specialty services.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current, active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience required.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing leadership experience required.
- Strong communication, leadership, staff development, organization, and operational decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary surgical teams.
