About the Role:
Kindergarten Round-Up Childcare LLC in Detroit, MI is looking for a passionate and dedicated Cook to join our team! In this role, you'll play a vital part in nourishing young minds by preparing healthy, delicious meals for the children in our care. If you love cooking and have a heart for kids, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children daily
- Follow childcare food safety and sanitation standards in all food handling and preparation
- Plan and maintain menus in compliance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACCP) guidelines
- Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times
- Accommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, and special nutritional needs of children
- Coordinate meal timing to align with classroom and childcare schedules
Requirements:
- Previous cooking experience, preferably in a childcare, school, or institutional food service setting
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
- Valid Food Handler's Certification or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Familiarity with USDA CACFP meal pattern requirements is a plus
- Ability to manage time effectively and prepare meals for large groups
- Caring, patient, and enthusiastic about working in a child-centered environment
- Ability to pass a background check as required for childcare employment
