Position Overview
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, therapeutic, and appropriate preparation and dispensing of medications. The pharmacist ensures compliance with applicable laws, accreditation standards, health-system policies, and pharmacy best practices while making independent clinical decisions and collaborating with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify medication orders accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications according to pharmacy standards.
- Assess medication orders and make clinical interventions when appropriate.
- Provide medication counseling, patient education, immunizations, and other clinical services as assigned.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and complete quality-assurance activities.
- Lead and direct pharmacy technicians, support staff, students, and interns.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, safety, and confidentiality requirements.
- Safely manage controlled and non-controlled medications.
- Utilize pharmacy information and healthcare IT systems effectively.
- Maintain competency in assigned pharmacy practice areas.
- Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program.
- PharmD or qualifying pharmacy degree.
- Current, active Ohio Pharmacist License.
- Ability to work variable shifts.
- Strong clinical judgment and medication-safety skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals.
Certification: Immunization certification may be required depending on the assigned pharmacy area.
Compensation: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
