Position Overview
Position Overview
The Assistant Nurse Manager – OR supports daily OR operations, staffing, resource allocation, patient safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and staff development within a 24/7 acute-care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise OR staff, daily operations, assignments, and resource utilization.
- Support patient safety, quality improvement, risk management, and clinical standards.
- Maintain survey readiness, mock rounds, and Joint Commission compliance.
- Support emergency preparedness and hospital response planning.
- Assist with staffing, productivity, budget, and utilization management.
- Coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient care.
- Support labor relations and union-environment operations.
- Monitor performance metrics and implement operational improvements.
- Maintain clinical competency and perform clinical duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active California RN License.
- BLS certification at hire.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of patient care experience.
- Minimum 1 year of leadership experience.
Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years of Main OR RN experience in an inpatient acute-care setting.
- Previous OR leadership experience as Charge RN, Lead, Preceptor, Supervisor, or similar.
- BSN and/or CNOR strongly preferred.
- Experience in a large union hospital preferred.
- IntraOp/Main OR experience required; ambulatory OR experience is a plus.
