About the Role:
Veterans Moving Forward is looking for a passionate and dedicated Assistant Trainer to join our mission-driven team in Kearneysville, WV. Responsibilities:
- Assist lead trainers in developing and delivering training programs and curriculum
- Support participants through hands-on coaching, instruction, and encouragement
- Monitor canine progress and provide feedback to program leadership
- Maintain accurate training records, documentation, and attendance logs
- Help coordinate training schedules, materials, and facility logistics
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth program operations
- Keep canines clean while working with kennel techs,
- Track meals and any medication required
Requirements:
- Prior experience in training, coaching
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for serving veterans and military communities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and recordkeeping
- Reliable, punctual, and mission-driven work ethic
- high school graduate or GED equivalent

Compensation: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Veterans Moving Forward, Inc. (VMF), a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Loudoun County, Virginia, provides service, therapy, and emotional support dogs to Veterans with physical and/or mental health challenges, no cost to the Veteran or their family.
VMF’s services are available to any Veteran of any generation, who served honorably, has physical and/or mental challenges resulting from military operations and/or accident or disease experienced during or subsequent to military service, lives in the continental United States, Hawaii or Alaska, and can benefit from a service dog.
Our Mission
Provide service dogs, therapy dogs, and emotional support dogs to Veterans with physical and/or mental health challenges at no cost to the Veteran or their family.
