Position Overview:
The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for providing project control support for construction projects, including developing and maintaining project schedules, cost estimates, and budgets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project controls, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Role Description:
  • Lead project control efforts for large-scale projects in the pulp and paper or construction industry, overseeing a team of project control professionals.
  • Develop and implement project control strategies and plans in alignment with project objectives and organizational goals.
  • Manage project schedules, cost estimates, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure success and profitability.
  • Track all project expenses, including labor, materials, equipment, and operational expenses. Analyze the costs of each project phase and activity.
  • Estimate future costs based on current spending trends, project progress, and other factors.
  • Create regular cost reports to inform stakeholders of the project's financial status. These reports may include actual versus budgeted costs, variances, forecasted costs, and other financial information.
  • Monitor project performance and identify deviations from plans, recommending corrective actions as necessary to ensure project success.
  • Provide strategic guidance to project managers and senior leadership on project controls-related matters, including risk management and forecasting.
  • Conduct comprehensive project performance analyses, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate project control processes and tools into project management workflows.
  • Mentor and coach junior project controls staff, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in project controls to drive continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project controls within the pulp and paper, construction industry, or related field with progressive responsibilities.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve project objectives.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic mindset, with a track record of driving results and delivering value to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP) are preferred.

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
