Position Summary: Reports to the Health and Wellness Director (HWD). Aids the medical providers. Works in collaboration with the HWD and provides oversight of the wellness clinic in their absence. Is responsible for assuring all medical clinical care is provided to students within Department of Labor (DOL) requirements and federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide nursing care to students as authorized by the medical provider and within scope of practice for state-specific nurse practice act. 2. Provide supervision to the staff LPNs to assure compliance with all state regulations and scope of practice and nurse practice act for vocational nurses.
3. Provide basic healthcare to students as required by DOL including all entry requirements (including but not limited to phlebotomy, immunizations, vision and hearing screenings, etc.).
4. Monitor students with illness and unable to attend class.
5. Provide input on staff nurses’ performance to the HWD for annual evaluations.
6. Provide staff training for wellness staff as well as required training for new hires and all center staff as needed or in the absence of the HWD.
7. Provide input on the development and assistance in the implementation of new and revised standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the wellness department.
8. Conduct student health record audits and participate in the continuous quality improvement program to identify needed improvements and employ mechanisms to improve compliance, and assure delivery of quality and effective services to students.
9. Conduct coordinated health care for students and implementation of other health related programs. Assure chronic care management including medication management case conferences of all students with chronic illnesses. Centennial JCC 6
10. Assure that clinical services, including medication management, are within health staff’ scope of practice and within federal, state, and local regulations and statutes.
11. Prepare and submit required reports within the required timeframe as needed and directed by the HWD.
12. Assist the HWD to manage the record keeping and reporting of student injuries in the system provided by DOL.
13. Provide direction and technical assistance to LVNs in all required health related programs.
14. Assist in development of community linkages for health and disability resources.
15. Provide oversight of all wellness center activities in the absence of the HWD.
16. Participate in required staff training as outlined in the center’s annual training plan.
17. Participate in and/or conduct required DOL and MTC meetings as directed by HWD.
18. Participate in regional DOL calls as needed.
19. Coordinate the applicant file review process in the absence of the HWD.
20. Function as the medical co-disability coordinator for the center if designated by the HWD.
21. Participate in student employability programs and activities.
22. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps zero tolerance policy.
23. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
24. Maintain accountability of staff, students and government property and adhere to safety practices.
25. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding Career Success Standards procedures and intervention techniques.
Education and Experience Requirements: Active, unrestricted registered nurse license in the state of employment. Experience working with youth in a paid or unpaid capacity is preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
General Responsibilities and Delegation: The center RN agrees to adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines established by MTC, operator of the center and Job Corps. The parties agree that the center RN, under the Center Director’s guidance, will have primary responsibility to implement the program outlined above and may be assisted by the Job Corps National Office and/or health consultants. The center RN, with the concurrence of the Center Director, may delegate by written and dated health care guidelines any of his/her responsibilities set forth in this contract to appropriate qualified staff. The center RN may delegate professional responsibilities set forth in this contract to any other full- or part-time RN only with the Center Director’s prior concurrence and a prior review of the secondary RN’s qualifications by MTC, the center operator, Regional Director and Regional Medical Consultant for the Department of Labor, Job Corps. Job Corps Oversight and Assistance: It is understood that the medical services provided by the center RN and center physician are subject to monitoring and review by Job Corps. The center RN may contact the regional medical consultant with any questions or concerns. Continuing Education: The center RN shall attend periodic continuing education conferences sponsored by the regional or national Job Corps offices only with the Center Director’s prior concurrence.

Compensation: $42.00 - $47.00 per hour
